MY FAVOURITE MOMENTS OF THE 2026 MILANO CORTINA WINTER OLYMPICS (CHRONOLOGICALLY)
22/2/26
FRIDAY, 6TH OF FEBRUARY
- losing to the swiss women's hockey team in the shoot outs and my sister going ballistic only to find out
that it's only a preliminary round and going "well what should i care then"
- the entire opening ceremony being boring as hell EXCEPT for when valentino rossi showed up ??? and also
those moka pots
- the athlete/delegation parades or whatever they're called ♡ it was so cute !!!
- in case you're curious my favourite fits were brasil canada haiti and mongolia; i didn't like ours that much
at first but i came around to it i think it's kinda cool now
SATURDAY, 7TH OF FEBRUARY
- realizing for the first time that literally no matter what is going to be happening in these games i'll
somehow end up watching curling anyway 'cause it's always on
- watching the figure skating team event's men single skating's short programs !! particularly loved kevin
aymoz's judas routine (he was so fun to watch!!), ilia malinin doing fuck knows what as always (i say this as a
compliment i don't know enough about figure skating to be mean to him but i don't want to anyway) and YUMA
KAGIYAMA MY GOAT except my mom pointed out he looks like one of my brother's friends and unfortunately she
was right and we spent like a minute laughing hysterically
SUNDAY, 8TH OF FEBRUARY
- czechia winning its first medals !! zuzana maděrová for snowboard (women's parallel giant slalom) and
metoděj jílek for speed skating (men's 5000m); i felt kinda bad for ester ledecká, she got barely beat to the
semifinals and you could tell she felt horrible about it :( my girl but she's the g nonetheless
- kaori sakamoto's free skate at the team event !! she skates sooo beautifully again my goat but also i loved
amber glenn even though she made a couple mistakes but i hope that means she'll skate clean in the individual
competition
- our women's hockey team winning against finland yupyup my goatlings
MONDAY, 9TH OF FEBRUARY
- everything i've learned about the ice dance scoring system and judging panel is against my will that shit is
truly just international politics and vibes. that being said both czech ice dance couple qualified for the free
skate so i was happy. also canada and great britain ate so bad
- women's hockey being czechia vs. canada broke my heart, like those are all my girls !!! anyway's we lost 5:1
'cause it's canada and also we took out the married couple ??? so bum AND homophobic allegations good lawd
TUESDAY, 10TH OF FEBRUARY
- the norwegian biathlete that won bronze in men's 20km admitting to cheating on his girlfriend of 6 months on
live tv and begging her to take him back you cannot make this shit up
- norwegians in general lmao someone on twitter made a long post about how the norwegian mentality breeds so
many athletes that they keep winning at the winter olympics and someone else responded with "well yes but also
have you considered that norway is also just a very rich country with an interest in niche winter sports"
- sweden winning gold in curling (mixed doubles) i'd never have expected to say this but that curling match
was truly riveting and the swedish girl was such a diva. we finished 7th which isn't bad given that it's our
first time in this discipline also our mixed couples curling guy is apparently going viral on tiktok for being
hot so good for him
- figure skating men singles short program !!! slovak guy qualified which is kinda like if we qualified.
my fave programs were the top 3 (adam siao him fa, yuma kagiyama and ilia malinin) though i will say i felt like
yuma deserved to be above or at least closer to ilia and i don't care that he stepped out of the triple axel
WEDNESDAY, 11TH OF FEBRUARY
- women's 15km individual biathlon race being won by a lady who got into a scandal for paying with a teammate's
credit card which would be crazy in itself but what's even funnier is that said teammate came second
- the entire slovakia vs. finland men's hockey game, which included what might just be my favourite olympic
moment of this year: that final (4:1) goal that slovakia scored that included juraj slafkovský losing his hockey
stick and managing to keep the puck away from the finns, or rather the finns away from the puck, by showing off
a straight up combo of hockey-figure skating-football and guarding the puck with his skates until his teammates
came. definitely like a top 3 funniest hockey moment i've ever experienced and slovakia deserved the win just for
that goal alone
- ice dance scoring again the bane of my existence. y'all know i'm canada down (actually i'm czechia down and
again both our pairs did great !! they were so fun and awesome)
THURSDAY, 12TH OF FEBRUARY
- women's super g in alpine skiing being a mess and like a third of the lineup (including ledecká) not
finishing 'cause whoever made the track was insane
- martina sáblíková and her final olympic race even though she got sick like a week ago and still didn't feel
super great, but her saying that even though she lost really badly she was genuinely happy that she even
finished and also she got a standing ovation from the stadium apparently :( she's very dear to me
- us losing 5:0 to canada in men's hockey even though we weren't like, horrible but their team is insane. wdym
y'all got crosby mckinnon macdavid celebrini suzuki etc etc let us breathe !! give lukáš dostál a gun i'm so
serious
FRIDAY, 13TH OF FEBRUARY
- another medal for the cheating norwegian biathlete
- METODĚJ JÍLEK WINNING GOLD GO WHITE BOY GO !!! also martina being there with him that was sooo cute and also
the dutch speedskater that had a mullet and then his trainer (?) had a fake wig mullet as well???
- the absolute mess that was the men's free skate in figure skating. what the fuck happened there. why was
everybody and their mama falling.
- very happy for mikhail shaidorov tho !! and all of the guys on the podium in general (loved that moment when
yuma was hyping shun up while shun was just uncontrollably crying lmao god bless
SUNDAY, 15TH OF FEBRUARY
- another medal for the cheating norwegian biathlete :) can't even make fun of him atp he might be a shit
boyfriend but he is competent as hell
- losing against switzerland in men's hockey ..... bros we can do better
TUESDAY, 17TH OF FEBRUARY
- winning against denmark in men's hockey yay
- women's short program in figure skating ..... well first of all amber glenn you are a legend even with that
popped loop (? maybe it was a lutz idk) and second of all ami nakai baby goat ?? the way no one expected that
WEDNESDAY, 18TH OF FEBRUARY
- losing against canada in men's hockey ..... still too fresh of a wound to talk about in depth but by god did
we put up a fight ("had we played like this in the preliminary rounds we wouldn't be playing against canada
now")
THURSDAY, 19TH OF FEBRUARY
- first of all the fact that women's free skate and women's hockey gold medal game was scheduled for the same
time slot is a crime and homophobic to me personally
- as for the women's free skate omfg ...... amber glenn i LOVE you please let me be your slightly
controversially younger girlfriend !! second of all alysa liu is a legend and the energy during macarthur park
was insane + her and ami hugging when ami realized she got the bronze was the cutest thing ever !!! super sad for
kaori though, you could tell she really wanted the gold :( and then amber blocking the cameras for her :( still,
an awesome event. it's wonderful how relatively healthy and good-vibes (again, relatively but yk) figure skating
can be when you don't have abused and malnourished children there
- as for the women's hockey super happy for the american team but i also feel bad for mpp :( that's my older
sister (sorry that it was our team that took you out queen) (also sorry to sydney crosby but to be fair the men's
canadian team always plays rough so i didn't feel that bad for them)
FRIDAY, 20TH OF FEBRUARY
- cheating norwegian biathlete did it again everyone !! and you know what good for him
- SLOVAKIA'S MEN'S ICE HOCKEY TEAM NOOO i mean we all knew they weren't gonna win but NOOOO
SATURDAY, 21ST OF FEBRUARY
- us randomly getting a bronze in women's biathlon ??? okay slay go tereza voborníková !!! another baby goat
- slovakia's men's ice hockey team noooo 2.0 :( slaf i'm sorry
SUNDAY, 22ND OF FEBRUARY
- i will not be talking about that gold medal men's hockey game.
- actually i will say one thing and that is that i hope that every single one of those american guys rots in hell
idgaf
- anyway closing ceremony was goofy as hell but i loved the random crowd shots especially when amber or alysa
were very obviously trying not to fall asleep
- :( post olympic depression now but at least i can look forward to 2030
